Rio Ferdinand Taunt to Chelsea.....
Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has told Chelsea that their multi-million pound signings will not make an impact for them this season.
The £50million capture of Fernando Torres and £21million deal for David Luiz were viewed as drastic action by Carlo Ancelotti in January in an attempt to stay in the Premier League title race.
Torres has still to score since joining Chelsea as last season's Double winners now only seem set to battle for a place in the top four, while Luiz has just shown glimpses of potential in his two matches.
Ferdinand, who misses Tuesday's trip to Stamford Bridge with a calf injury, admits to being impressed by Chelsea's spending power, however, he does not expect the money to prove a rescue remedy.
The centre-back is quoted as saying in the Daily Express: "The Torres deal did make me think, 'wow, they've really gone for it'.
"But will those transfers really improve Chelsea this season? I don't know. Next season, I would say, 'yes, they will'. But it is hard to settle in quickly in January."
